Work on a monologue in a way you never have before. Kill making a plan and trust your impulses. Find the freedom of not knowing what the next moment will be. Learn to perform a living monologue.
In this class we’ll be diving into monologues from 3 tremendous black playwrights: August Wilson, Lynn Nottage, and James Baldwin.
Actors will receive an engaging monologue 48 hrs before each class. Each session will start with a series of group prep exercises. The class will then be divided into groups of 2 or 3 actors each. Your monologue will be performed collectively with improvisational elements that will infuse your work with life, truth, and an enticing unpredictability.
