When asked what an actor needs to do strong work, Meisner spoke of three elements:
1. The imagination of a child
2. The ability to focus (to listen)
3. Empathy, sensitivity, and compassion
In this class you will rediscover these elements and learn how play can set you free.
Working through a screen can be frustrating, but this is the world we’re living in. Casting’s first view of us is almost always through a screen; we don’t have the luxury of making an in-person connection.
We must learn to play so we can transcend the limitations of the screen. When we listen with every fiber of our being and respond truthfully with conviction, our awareness of the screen falls away. Impulses take over, and real doing takes the place of pretending. Casting directors lean in.
Our foundation during this course will be connecting and creating with truth, conviction and clarity… through PLAY.
